Great Computer Monitor! + HDTV is nice to have as well. August 4, 2009 L. Schropp (USA) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I bought this monitor to replace my old Samsung 17" monitor.
It has been a wonderful replacement so far.
A couple things to note:
1. The monitor does not have a height adjustment but it does have front to back tilt built into the stand.
2. Make sure to securely tighten the screw under the base when attaching the stand to the monitor several people have complained the stand is wobbly if you do not tighten this screw tightly it will be.
This is a great monitor do yourself a favor and buy it.
REALLY NICE TV AND MONITOR September 14, 2009 Steve Cohan (Phoenix, Arizona) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I wanted an HDTV for my desk so that I could work while watching the business networks in the morning. I have a 22 inch Samsung and a 19 inch Viewsonic. I build Web sites making two monitors a necessity. When I bought the Samsung 23 I was in a hurry. I didn't even notice that I could use it as a monitor.
I connected the unit to my computer just to see the resolution. It is terrific. Unfortunately I need to use this thing as a TV only but I can say the resolution, colors and everything else are fantastic. Highly recommended product.
USED EXCLUSIVELY AS TV........... May 24, 2010 Hip Hop 2 Def (Virginia, USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Yeah that's right. I saw 1080p for $250 and jumped on it. I NEVER use this "monitor" as a monitor, so I cannot review that aspect of the P2370HD. There are only a handful of professional reviews on this product; the most notable being the awful CNET reviews and stupid youtube video showoffs and unboxings. Ignore that crap. Read on so you don't have to read 500 more customer reviews on google.
Lemme start out with a true analysis of what everyone says is good or bad about this Monitor/HDTV.
A lot of people complain about the sound. Well at first it does sound a little muffled, but just slightly. There is an option in the sound menu called HD surround. Even though I don't own an external speaker set, it makes the sound noticeably better for some reason. It also makes me feel like wealthy audiophiles who have an extra 600 dollars for Bose speakers were trying to find SOMETHING to complain about (plus usually in their reviews they talk about this TV a "kitchen TV!"). I love this TV's sound personally.
The next complaint that I hear from a LOT of people makes absolutely NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. "This product is more of a monitor than an HDTV." NONSENSE. This HDTV's picture is beautiful. I use this exclusively as an HDTV for my cable box and my PS3 via HDMI. With the PS3, blu-ray's and games look brilliant. Uncharted 2 ad Gran Turismo 5 Prologue look so stunningly beautiful that I sometime lose/die because I just want to observe the wonderful graphics. As for the cable box, it looks great as well. Especially cartoons. In HD cartoons look incredible. Some movies look better than others (all in HD but some look sub HD. It depends on the station. Trust me I know what NON HD looks like). But movies in blu-ray (PS3) are all just AWESOME. THe colors are better than any TV, Ive ever seen. The only bad side is that every time I want to switch from my PS3 to watch TV, I have to switch HDMI cables because there is only one port.
Only one complaint that I can agree with to some extent is this. "The viewing angles are extremely limited." Its true. I am lucky enough to have my bed positioned to the exact height and angle where I can be DIRECTLY in front of the screen rather than below, above, or off to the left, right. The TV does not pivot forward, so do not buy if you have a high shelf/stand intended for use with this HDTV. I'd recommend using a small computer desk (since most use this as a computer that goes without saying).
The point of my review was to convince all who are skeptical of this product to not be afraid to jump on such an opportunity. I have not had the dreaded "turn off and on by itself problem" either. IT IS A SMART PURCHASE IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE IT AS JUST AN HDTV, LIKE MYSELF. I saved 100 dollars by buying a superior, larger product, rather than sticking to the standard 22 inch 720p Samsung HDTVs that cost 350 dollars for some odd reason. I've waited half a year for this TV, and after reading COUNTLESS reviews over ad over and over, and thinking about buying the Samsung 2333HD or the T220hd, I just went for the best and came out with a major WIN.
BTW, this review is coming from a Sony PlayStation fan-boy who prefers quality in gaming and movies. I assure you that this does EVERYTHING that any other HDTV of it size can do, plus the computer option. The only downside is the viewing angles. BUY IT (unless you are buying the Samsung 2333HD which has an 10000:1 DMC with an annoying blue light in the front lol)(Or the T220hd which had an oddly shaped screen).
Perfect Hybrid November 2, 2009 Rich (Seattle, WA) 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I was in a market for a small LCD for something next to my laptop. So I was looking at the TV section and didn't fine many 1080p at this size and the price were like a 100 more than a 720p sets of the same size. I was also thinking most TV has HDMI so I would just hook my laptop Displayport with a converter:Display Port To HDmi Adapter VGA M/f Cable (no displayport here) to it and have dual screen.
TV:
Performance is as good or better than most set I saw in the store. This has better price and spec compare to Samsung own 22" LN22b640, lN22a450 or LN22b360 models. The color is brighter and much sharper than the regular 22" TV set in this range. Most of those LN model spec are 720p, 15k contrast ratio 8ms response rate while this model has 1080p, 30k contrast ratio and 5ms response ratio. The design is similar to my larger 40" Samsung LN40A650 40-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with RED Touch of Color and the interface and menu are like most Samsung TV without the 120hz motion flow feature. There is only one hdmi input compare to 2 or 3 for a regular set, but it has DVI, VGA, antenna/ cable, component, composite and a digital out so you are cover on most inputs(no s-video, but manufactures are phasing that out). The remote is a regular TV remote with no secondary buttons for other device and no backlight which is fine.
Computer LCD:
Well the TV and computers input makes this a better buy if you decide to use your LCD for other use in the future. At 1980x1080p the image is amazingly sharper then my old 22" LG with 1680x1050 resolutions. So the screen is a movie 16:9 rather then most computer widescreen at 16:10. My photos I taken at higher resolution on my Nikon looks sharper on here then the LG. Also the lower image file is smaller and is not stretched out. So I have the option to connect this to my laptop now. The problem with laptop display driver is it only looks good if you match the LCD with the laptop native resolution. My Lenovo laptop is 1680x1050 so the image is stretch on the Samsung P2370HD. If I do 1680 on the laptop and 1920 on the Samsung it looks worst for some reason. I had the same problem with my old Dell laptop at 1600x1200 and the LG at 1680x1050 it doesn't look right. But if you connect this to your computer, which I did also it looks amazing with the resolution at a full 1920x1080p. I was thinking of using it for just my computer now.
I think if you are in a market for a small TV or a 22" LCD for the computer, this is the best buy and the best of both worlds. I have a Samsung TV for 6-8 months and have no problem, nor did my LG Computer monitor. The glass design is very modern. The only thing that is a small problem if the base and stand were stiffer and can be adjusted better. There is only a small tilt, where most computer monitors can tilt more, has a swivel base and height adjustment, but this doesn't. It comes with a 6' HDMI cable also. I tested this on a laptop via Displayport, PS3 via hdmi, computer via DVI and over air antenna and it past or equal all my expectations.
Great Producted so far. December 2, 2009 Wired Wrong (Seattle,Wa) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It seems capable of picking up all Digital Signals from my cable company without a box. It seems like a very worth while interface for all your entertainment needs, if you sort out what inputs to use for each of your devices you can have a computer a ps3 and any other video game clearly connected to this all at once. This means the only thing it seems to lack is a second HDMI connection location. But being as I do not plan to have to need one it does not seem all that great a problem. It does however have both a VGA and a DVI connection spot for your monitor and in theory you could connect and use more then one computer to this TV. It can also take formats of cable input in forms of STD,HRC, and IRC thou for this information it's imperative when programing the channels on the box to ask your cable provider the broadcast frequency to make sure you have the right type of channel form programed for best picture quality. I have yet to connect many other devices to it yet but I plan to hook my computer to it next. I hope maybe it helps remove a lot of lag from some of my games in increase over all performance if so that is a plus. Other wise it looks great other wise, because its an HDtv it looks a little grainy with standard forms of input meaning none digital signals but as a whole it looks pretty great.I Hope everyone finds it to be a every useful and affective device and I find that its well priced in many places.
